Groom’s Cake

Do you like this story?

If you are a bride, do not forget your groom when choosing your wedding cake. You should also read this without your groom present.

The groom’s cakes tradition is originally from the southern United States. The story behind a groom’s cake is a superstition. Years ago, single women attending a wedding brought a piece of the groom’s cake home and placed it under their pillow. So the legend states, they will dream about their future husband. The morning after they will know with whom they will spend the rest of their life with.

This tradition is coming back and is becoming popular again in the US, but not yet so popular in Australia. A groom’s cake nowadays reflect the groom’s personality, interests, hobbies, favourite sports and profession.

Normally the groom’s cake will be next to the wedding cake on the cake table. Usually smaller than the wedding cake and is usually a surprise from the bride to her husband.

Choose your groom’s favourite cake flavour and choose a design that reflects:

  • his personality (eg. a clock if he is always on time or late)
  • a childhood memory (eg. his favourite cartoon character)
  • his hobby
  • his favourite drink
  • a music instrument
  • a team logo

A groom’s cake adds something special to a wedding reception and the groom will be delighted to have a cake for him.

Work together with your baker to create a master piece.
