Jasmine & Oni Raileqe were happily married earlier this year in April 2010. We here at Wedding House asked Jasmine if she could share the highlights of her special day as well as give other brides to be tips and even some ideas and advice in making their wedding day perfect just like theirs.

So enjoy the story of their journey towards their destination…wedding day (+photos), but for Jasmine & Oni it was the beginning of forever….

How We Met

Oni & I first saw each other @ a friends house and from that first moment he began a mission to get into my world. He joint a hip-hop dance group that I was in at the time & would sneakily bring me chocolates and do sweet little things every week to make his way into my heart. I was fairly blinded and simply thought we were good friends until 3 people suggested to me that we should date. I than caught on and thought oh yeah actually this guy is really quality… so the chance was given and 5 years down the dating track and we are now happily married.

The Proposal

I had just come home from a work trip on the Gold Coast and the next day I got a call from one of my good friends who I worked with saying our boss had left a box at the airport and we needed to pick it up. She picked me up and we headed to the airport. Next thing you know we are heading to the International Airport much to my confusion as we had been at the domestic airport the day before. She convinced me they had moved the box and I went with it in my dased early morning state. So we pull up at the drop offs and I tell her I will get it so she can move her car if asked… but no she insisted i stay in the car. Im staring out the window and next thing Oni walks out the door with 2 packed bags and I was like ‘what are you doing here’. He told me we were heading to Fiji and than I was like no way.

So off we flew. We met his Dad and 2 sisters over there and as My husband is fijian spent a couple days in nadi with the extended family. On the 3rd day the 5 of us jumped on a boat and went to a lovely resort on an island. Where we just chilled… it was stunning. On the 3rd day of being on the island I said lets go for a walk on the beach babe… and he agreed. His family dissapeared also half an hour before us which seemed weird to me but hey again i was gullible. We walked along the beach while the sun was setting when we got to the headland on the beach there was a love heart drawn in the sand with WILL YOU MARRY ME? He than got down on his knee and proposed while his family hid in the bushes filming the whole thing. After the YES… they all came out and we walked back to dinner where we had a private dinner for 2 in an open hut on the water… It was all divine!!!

The Wedding Dress & Accessories

Dress: I wore an Ivory pure silk gown made by Hilde Heim. It was tight fitting to the top of my thighs and than went down in an A line from there. It had a round neck with a round low back and had gathered material around the whole top line. It also had a black bow around my waist which really completed the unique look.

  • Veil: I wore an ivory veil which went down to the top of my thighs also. I wore this at the back for the ceremony and the photos.
  • Shoes: I wore a shoe called beautiful from Wittner they were Ivory with a chunky diamante cluster on top of the toe.
  • Accessories: I wore simple dangly pearl earrings and a simple 1 line pearl bracelet. I also had 2 small black flowers tucked in the back of my hair on the side.

The Groom’s Attire

Oni wore a silver/grey slim fit suit with a plain white slim fit shirt and a matching vest. He wore black shoes and a thin black tie.

The groomies wore the same but had only the vest. No jacket.

Bridesmaids Dresses & Accessories

The stunning bridesmaids wore mint green cocktail dresses from Forever New with a sweetheart neckline. They had pearl stud earrings, some silver and pearl bracelets and a pale pink flower in the back of their hair. They work silver shoes.

Flowers

My florist put a mixture of white and green flowers together for me including orchids, spray roses, fresias and green berrys. The girls had the same except a tad smaller and we added a touch of pale pink into their bouquets so the theme wasn’t too cold colour predominant.

  6. What a great story! Very romantic, love all the trouble Oni went to for the proposal. His mates won’t be too happy though… Jasmine’s dress is lovely. Simple and elegant. The black sash is a great touch around the middle. I’m sure they’ll be lots of love, laughter and little ones in their future together.
