Marquee & Equipment Hire Weddings
Are you looking for greater flexibility and choice when it comes to choosing a wedding venue? Marquee weddings allow you set up almost anywhere there is flat ground – in the middle of a paddock, in a park, your backyard or by the ocean.
If you haven’t found an ideal location yet, contact a marquee hire company and ask for suggestions as they will have set up at many local sites and know which ones are the best.
Once you’ve chosen your location and worked out how many guests you want to invite, start shopping for a marquee to hire. Marquees come in a huge range of sizes and can be easily decorated to suit your chosen wedding style. For a beautiful view of the surrounds and the night sky, you can opt for a clear roof and walls.
Source local decorators and event hire places for table centrepieces, chair covers, candelabras, ceiling linings, silk drapes, lighting and carpets or timber parquetry. If you’re getting married in the warmer months, air conditioning is a must as well.
Making Your Wedding Marquee Work
- Get Permission
Depending on your location, you will need to get permission from the local authorities to set up your marquee. Make sure you comply with their requirements and avoid dramas on your wedding day.
- Check the Location
Have a representative from your local marquee hire company visit your location to check its suitability. Make sure the marquee can be delivered and set up without any issues.
- Extra Room
If there are no other buildings available at your location you may need to hire extra marquees for the kitchen, toilets, and as extra storage. A fully equipped kitchen for catering will need access to fresh water and a backup generator in case of a power outage. If you think it might rain, consider having covered walkways as well.
- Length of Hire
You will need to hire your wedding marquee one or two days before the actual wedding to set up and decorate. Allow at least a day after the event to clean up, pack down and deliver tables, chairs and decorations back to the hire company. Make sure you recruit volunteers to help you with all of this!
- Wedding Marquee Layout
Sketch out your marquee area and plan the location of the guest tables, the bridal table, dance floor, serving area for your caterers and entry and exit points. Table shape can affect how much space you have to work with. As a general guide, round tables seat eight to ten guests while rectangular tables accommodate ten to twelve.
Will your wedding be more elegant with lots of stilettos? Timber parquetry or carpet will work well and avoid a muddy mess. If you’re going for a more relaxed feel, keep the lawn and install a dance floor in one area of the marquee with enough room for your DJ or band and sound system.
