Style and comfort for your big day. Your guests will probably not be looking at your feet as you walk down the isle – but nonetheless, your wedding shoes are an important part of your bridal ensemble and add that finishing touch.
You bridal wedding shoes will carry you through your big day and should look good and feel comfortable. Both are totally possible, it just takes a little time and effort to find the right pair. Make sure while you shopping around, you take a swatch of your dress fabric with you so you can match your shoe colour to your wedding dress.
Strappy or enclosed shoes? Stiletto or slippers? Beading to match your dress?
Ideally visit a specialist wedding shoe store to try on different styles and find out what works for your height, shape and dress length. You want to look and feel relaxed all day, so avoid shoes that pinch your feet or cramp your toes.
If you’re not used to wearing high heels, you’re probably best to avoid them on your wedding day. They can be painful on your feet and legs and you will most likely kick them off at the reception!
As you’re spending all day on your feet, pick a bridal wedding shoe that gives you extra room in case your feet swell. This is particularly important if it’s a hot day.
If you’re having an outdoor wedding, find shoes that will work well on grass or soil and won’t be marked easily. Stilettos are probably not the best option for soft ground, so look for a flatter style shoe.
Give yourself plenty of time to find your wedding shoes and wear them in early. As you’re cleaning around the house or doing odd jobs, put on your shoes and walk around in them for an hour or so.
Keep your wedding shoes spick and span by covering them in white socks.
Got slippery soles? Find some sandpaper and give them a gentle rub or go for a walk on concrete.
